RYAN – The FIRST Name in Turf Renovation™.

Originally founded by Gordon Kindlien and Earl Nystrom in 1946, Ryan® began as the K&N machine shop in Kindlien’s backyard. The pair had a desire to strike out after the war and establish a high quality general machine shop. By the end of 1947, the company had a firm stronghold in the machining and tooling business. In 1948, K&N purchased a small manufacturing company affiliated with a commercial landscaper named Art Ryan. The team produced a new sod cutter that was durable enough to give years of trouble-free service. Art Ryan suggested the “Ryan Sod Buster” as a name for the new product and the name stuck. Even today you might be able to find one of these originals still in use. After more than 60 years the name and brand carry the ideals that they were built on – heavy-duty, commercially built and long-lasting turf care equipment. Today, the Ryan product line includes sod cutters, aerators, dethatchers, overseeders and other specialty products.
